Kadampa Buddhism

Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school founded by the Indian Buddhist master Atisha (982 – 1054 AD).

Introduced into the West by the meditation master and scholar, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Kadampa Buddhism presents Buddha’s teachings in an authentic and practical manner.  Kadampa Buddhism invites practitioners of all levels to enjoy Buddha’s teachings and meditation techniques and integrate them into their daily lives.

One of the hallmarks of Kadampa Buddhism is the immense sincerity and purity of its great teachers.  Each teacher passed on not only the teachings themselves but the realizations of those teachings to his or her students.  Through this unbroken lineage, which still exists today, many people now have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and wisdom of this pure tradition.

In our modern world, Kadampa Buddhists – whether teachers, students, lay people, or ordained people – come from many different countries and many different walks of life.  If you visit a Kadampa meditation center or Kadampa classes, you will find a diverse group waiting to welcome you.
